SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - As a hands-on employee, Pat Flynn not only works at Superior Speedie Portable Toilets in Springfield Township, southeast of Akron, he is part owner.

As a marketing/sales specialist a good friend, Jeff Grubbs, asked him to join in developing Grubb's company that started out in 2004 with only 100 portable toilet units to augment his plumbing business. Grubbs needed help as his business grew too much to run by himself.

Today Superior Speedie can boast over 6000 units from a one-seat portable unit to full-size trailers they rent to large venues like NASCAR events, private on-location weddings, as well as to the military. The company is a rare exception of success in a slow economy.

"To be honest with you, it's all about service. You know, you service your customers and we have a good group of guys that have always maintained a good level of quality service and that's what helped us grow," said Flynn.

With 20 luxury restroom trailers that also offers showers to customers nationwide, Flynn says the company has all it can handle with return business. They also serve 18 counties in Ohio.

Salesman Scott Savage joked he has been kidded by his friends with the name "Scotty Potty" but for Savage, who was out of work when he responded to an ad for a sales/marketing expert, working for Superior Speedie Portable Toilets has been a perfect fit with a product that's easy to sell with the level of service offered by his colleagues. The prices reasonable.

"From the small ones on the weekend it will go for around $100 for a weekend unit that is a very nice special event unit that comes with hand sanitizers on up to a smaller trailer that will accommodate a party of about 300 people that will run for about $1200 to $1500 depending on where you're located," said Savage. "They're very reasonably priced, especially if your going to have a wedding and you have people in their pretty gowns and nice tuxedos they don't want to go into a plastic box in the middle of July when it's 95 degrees outside. You rather go into an air-conditioned restroom that actually has mirrors and real toilets that are flushable," added Savage.

Savage said Superior Speedie offers full delivery, cleaning and pick-up service included in their rental contracts.
