AKRON, Ohio - Akron police are looking for two suspects who officers say held an ax to a cab driver’s back while they robbed him near the intersection of McKinley Avenue and Elbon Avenue.
Officers responded to the “Go 2 Go Taxi” driver’s call shortly before 4 a.m. Wednesday.
The driver reported a woman asked him for help loading her belongings in the vehicle when a man approached from behind, held an ax handle to the cab driver’s back and demanded the driver’s money, according to police.
The woman then took the driver’s fare money and company cellphone and she left the scene with the man.
Officers said the man also held his hand in his pocket during the robbery “as if he had a gun.”
Police say the female suspect is approximately 30 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, between 180 and 190 pounds and could be wearing a brown wig and long rain coat.
The male suspect is between 20 and 25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, approximately 160 pounds and was last seen wearing a red, white and gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans, according to police.
Officers are asking anyone with information about this case to contact the Akron Police Department.
