Man hit by train, killed along Coventry Road in Barberton

BARBERTON, Ohio - A man was struck by a train and killed in Barberton while trying to pick his belongings up off the tracks, police said.

It happened at about 1:30 p.m. Monday on he CSX tracks along Coventry Road, near the State Street Bridge.

Barberton police said the man was sitting on the tracks, and then went to gather his stuff. He was hit by a northbound train and died in the accident.

The man’s name has not been released.

Barberton police and the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating.
