AKRON, Ohio - An Akron man who pleaded guilty to assaulting his 2-year-old son will spend eight years in prison.
Eddie Haskins, 49, pleaded guilty to felonious assault, which is a second-degree felony, on Aug. 22, a Summit County Court official said.
On April 10, the boy’s mother came home to find her son unresponsive on the couch and immediately called police, Lt. Rick Edwards said. The 2-year-old boy suffered a traumatic brain injury and remains hospitalized.
Haskins faced between two and eight years in prison, and Judge Amy Corrigall imposed the maximum. He already served time at the Marion Correctional Institution in 2009 for domestic violence.
