Woman sentenced for hitting police officer during Canton Marathon

CANTON, Ohio - A Tuscarawas Township woman who struck a police officer directing traffic during the Canton Marathon was sentenced Monday.

According to Stark County Common Pleas Judge Frank Forchione, Valarie Rodgers, 46, will be on probation for one year and will also have to make Thanksgiving dinner for three police officers who are now on leave or unable to work.

If Rodgers violates probation, she will go to jail.
