SANDY TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Two women were hospitalized Sunday following a crash where a mini-van struck a utility pole, went through a fence and then overturned.
The single vehicle accident happened around 4:20 p.m. on State Route 43 northbound, north of mile post 3 in Sandy Township, Stark County.
Ohio State Highway troopers said the driver, Penny Y. Cutlip, 31, of Malvern, lost control of her 2001 Chevrolet Venture.
The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway, struck a utility pole, went through a fence and then overturned.
Cutlip and her passenger, Shannon L. Olander, 24, of Malvern, were both ejected from the van.
The women were transported by ambulance to area hospitals with serious injuries, according to troopers.
Troopers said it’s not clear if drugs and/or alcohol played factors in the crash.
The accident is under investigation.
