JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Jackson Township Police said around 11:30 Sunday night, a dark-colored Honda struck two women walking on Portage Street NW between Whipple Avenue NW and Pittsburg Avenue NW.

According to police, the women were walking in the eastbound lanes of Portage Street NW when they were hit. That car then left the scene. A couple large bags of personal items were scattered in the roadway.

Jackson Township police said after the hit-and-run crash happened, a woman called police, admitting she was the one who hit the women with her car. Police said she provided them with her contact information and they are investigating the case. Police said at this point, the driver is not charged. She's not in custody.

The women were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A third woman was walking with them, but she wasn't hit by the car. Police said she's a witness to the hit-and-run.

Police said they plan to follow up with the crash victims later Monday morning and plan to release more information afterwards.

The names of the victims or what they may have been doing in the area were not released.
