A North Canton Kmart employee is recovering tonight after being attacked on the job.
The attempted robbery started in the parking lot of the Kmart, where the employee was was collecting shopping carts.
According to North Canton Police, a dark-skinned black male in his late 20’s early 30’s and armed with a box cutter, demanded money from the victim.
When the employee reached for his wallet, the would be robber started slashing at the employee.
North Canton Police and EMS both responded to the scene.
The victim was treated and released for minor cuts to his arms and chest area.
North Canton Police, with the assistance of a K-9 unit from the Summit County Sheriff’s Department tried to track down the suspect, but so far have not caught him.
North Canton Police describe the suspect as 5’11”, average build and short hair. He wore blue jeans, black boots and a black jacket with fleece type of material.
