CANTON, Ohio - Officers arrested the North Canton man accused of making improvised explosive devices.
Last week, North Canton police were called to a house on Sunford Avenue and found three homemade explosive devices in the basement.
Police identified the suspect as 51-year-old Thomas R. Ward, who suffers from mental health issues. The owner of the home said Ward is his cousin and he hasn’t been seen since May 20.
On Tuesday, North Canton police were checking with community-based housing locations when they found out Ward was staying at a motel. Police said at about 1 p.m. they arrested him at the Towne Manor Motel on Tuscarawas Street in Canton. He was corporative with officers.
Ward was taken to the Stark County Jail and his bond was set at $100,000 for each count.
