MASSILLON, Ohio - A Missing Adult Alert in Massillon has been canceled after the 74-year-old man was found dead.
John Vales, 74, was reported missing on March 4, last seen in the city around 10 a.m. The 5-foot 5-inch, 100 pound man was last seen wearing jeans and duck shoes, driving his GMC pickup truck.
Authorities said a Kenyon Avenue SW resident called Tuesday morning reporting a vehicle, matching the one Vales was last seen driving, was in the woods behind his house.
Police believe Vales hit a tree and died at the crash scene.
Vales suffered from a mental disability and medical issues.
An investigation is ongoing.
A call out to the Stark County Sheriff's Office has not been returned.
