Minerva Police department confirms oil well explosion in 8000 block of Knox-School Road

MINERVA, Ohio - The Minerva Police department confirms an oil well exploded around 9:26 p.m. Sunday.

The oil well is located in the 8000 block of Knox-School Road in the village, located just east of Canton.

Police said this is mostly a residential area. Injuries and damage in the surrounding area are unknown at this time.

The Minerva Fire Department, EMA and the Colmbiana County Sheriff's Office are responding to the scene.

Minerva is a village in Carroll, Columbiana and Stark counties.
