TUSCARAWAS TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a man died in a single car crash on US Route 30 Monday night.
Troopers said the crash occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on U.S. 30 eastbound near mile post No. 3, approximately one mile west of State Route 241.
They said the victim, David Smith, 56, of Massillon, drove off the right side of the road while driving eastbound on US 30, causing his car to overturn and strike a tree.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Stark County Coroner’s Office.
OSHP said Smith was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
The crash remains under investigation.
