JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A man was killed around 10 p.m. Tuesday night in the 4300 block of Dressler Road NW in Jackson Township when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the parking lot of Belden Center shopping plaza.
According to Jackson Township police, the rider was south on Dressler Road NW when he struck a curb and lost control of his motorcycle. The man continued through the grass that separates the parking lot and roadway before striking three metal parking poles.
Police said they believe the man was killed when he struck the metal poles. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcycle continued through the parking lot before coming to rest under the shopping plaza sign.
Jackson Township police later identified the victim as 26-year-old Justin Zickafoose of Canton.
Debris scattered throughout the parking lot included a helmet that police believe was strapped to the motorcycle instead of being worn by the man.
Police were still on scene around 1 a.m. Wednesday taking measurements and reconstructing the accident.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash. No passengers were on the motorcycle.
