CANTON, Ohio - Police in Stark County have arrested four teenagers in connection with a bomb and shooting threat at Central Catholic High School that was posted on Facebook.
The Perry Township Police Department said it first got word of the threat at 11:52 p.m. Wednesday, and officers worked throughout the night to investigate the case.
School officials decided to cancel school Thursday, and police sent in the Summit County Bomb Squad to sweep the school for any explosives. K9s hit on an area of interest inside the school, but no explosives were found when bomb technicians checked it out.
Police then went to the house of one of the suspects and found three people they wanted to talk with in connection with the case, and interviewed them. The officers said they then learned a fourth person was allegedly involved, and all four were arrested.
Here are the names of three of the four suspects (the fourth is a juvenile, so he is not being named):
- Adam Fuetter, 18
- Zack Parker, 18
- Stephon Jones, 18
All four have been charged with breaking and entering and inducing panic. Massillon police said those arrested are not students at Central Catholic High School.
Through their investigation, Perry Township police learned the four suspects entered the school and posted the threat message on a Facebook page that was left open by a staff member in a classroom.
“The message that was posted on Facebook created quite an alarm within the community. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the individual(s) who made the initial report of this incident to the police department,” said Chief Michael T. Pomesky in a news release.
Law enforcement agencies that worked on the case include: Canton City Police Department and K-9 Units, Summit County Sheriff's Department and Bomb Squad, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Perry Township Fire Department, Canton Central Catholic Staff and Administration.
