MASSILLON, Ohio - Massillon police are issuing a reminder to all drivers after a few close calls with open vehicle doors in moving traffic.
Officers posted to the department's Facebook page that they have seen a growing number of open car doors nearly struck by passing traffic while parked downtown.
Now officers are reminding motorists that under Ohio state law , doing so for extended periods of time is a minor misdemeanor offense.
Under the law, if additional violations occur within one year of this offense, they become third and fourth degree misdemeanor offenses.
