MASSILLON, Ohio - Authorities identified the man who was shot and killed after allegedly holding a woman hostage at the Great Clips in Massillon Sunday.
Stark County sheriff’s deputies said 28-year-old Shane Allen Ryan, of Canton, was killed in the officer-involved shooting.
Deputies said Ryan went into the Great Clips, located at 2757 Indian River Rd., around 5 p.m. Sunday looking for his girlfriend.
They said Ryan found out that she wasn’t there and then held an unidentified 23-year-old woman a friend told NewsChannel5 worked at the salon as a hostage.
The Canton SWAT team was called in to assist and deputies said members of the team shot Ryan.
The incident remains under investigation by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office.
