LAKEMORE VILLAGE, Ohio - One man faces charges in connection to a Craigslist rental property scam in Springfield Township in Stark County.
James C. Barrett, 41, is charged with two counts of felony theft for perpetrating a rental property scam on craigslist. Barrett was also involved in a standoff with police on March 2 after officers attempted to serve unrelated warrants.
Officials said Barrett would scam would-be renters by collecting deposits from them with no intention of actually renting the property. So far, three victims have come forward to report they were victims.
Detectives said there may be more victims.
