PIKE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A three-vehicle crash in Stark County killed an elderly man Friday afternoon.
The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says that 70-year-old Thomas C. McCaffrey, of East Sparta, was driving his Chevrolet Impala south on State Route 800 when he drove left of center and hit a Cadillac DeVille head on.
As those vehicle collided, a Honda Gold Wing, traveling north on State Route 800, hit the Impala on the right passenger side.
Sparta was pronounced dead at the scene by the Stark County Coroner’s Office.
85-year-old Earl C. Bush, of Canton, was driving the Cadillac DeVille that was hit head on. Bush was taken to Aultman Hospital by East Sparta EMS to be treated for his injuries.
39-year-old Shawn R. Dennis, of Waynesburg, had minor injuries and was taken to Aultman Hospital by Quad EMS.
Canton Township Fire Department and East Sparta Fire Department assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
According to the Canton Post of the Highway Patrol, there have been 17 deaths from 16 crashes so far in 2012.
