ALLIANCE, Ohio - Alliance police are investigating a homicide that comes a month after an alleged domestic violence incident.
Police said Willa Taylor-Hillman, 48, of Alliance, was killed in her apartment on South Arch Avenue at about 1:30 Tuesday morning.
Randy Ring, 58, of Alliance, was arrested and charged with murder. Police said they believe Ring attacked and strangled Taylor-Hillman at her apartment after an argument.
Ring then called 911, nonchalantly saying, "I just strangled my girlfriend."
Ring told the dispatcher he was sitting on the bed next to the victim and would have to use his walker to get up.
No one else was present in the apartment and Ring was taken into custody at the scene.
On June 10, Ring was arrested for a felony count of domestic violence against Taylor-Hillman in Columbiana County. That charge is still open in Columbiana County Court.
Ring was taken to Stark County Jail to await arraignment in Alliance Municipal Court Wednesday at 1 p.m.
