CANTON, Ohio - Eight dogs died after a Canton house fire, but firefighters say the three people who live there were not home at the time.
The fire started before midnight in the home along Sixth Street SW. A Battalion Fire chief says the house will be torn down today because of the all the damage. Parts of the roof caved in. Firefighters will remain at the scene to help with the demolition as they may need to water down some hot spots.
According to firefighters at the scene, several space heaters were found inside, and they are likely the cause of the fire. A Battalion Fire Chief says the official cause is being investigated. The American Red Cross is assisting the residents who lived there.
