SOUTHINGTON, Ohio - The son of one the victims found in Saturday night’s fatal double stabbing has been named as a suspect in the case, according to Trumbull County Sheriff’s deputies.
Major Thomas Stewart said deputies responded to the 5400 block of State Route 305 for a report of a wreck at around 10:30 p.m., but when crews got to the scene a woman was found, in the middle of the street, with a stab wound to the neck.
She was flown by a medical helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center with serious injuries.
Deputies then found the woman’s 51-year-old boyfriend dead on the front porch of a home. He also had been stabbed once in the neck.
Stewart said authorities located the suspect an hour later with a thermal imaging device in the woods behind the house, where the stabbing occurred.
Stewart said the suspect, who is the son of the female victim, was booked into the Trumbull County jail.
He will be formally charged next week.
Names were not released.
