NELSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Portage County Sheriff is asking for the public’s help after an 87-year-old woman was robbed and injured Tuesday afternoon.
Sheriff David Doak said the burglary occurred at about 3:30 p.m. in the 11200 block of State Route 88 at the Nelson Township woman’s home.
After opening the door for the male suspect, the woman was shoved to the ground, breaking her hip as a result of the fall, according to the sheriff.
He said the suspect then entered the home and went into the woman’s purse, stealing an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect then left the home on foot. Authorities searched the area but did not find him. They identified him as a white male, approximately 5' 10 tall, 150 lbs. A knit cloth was covering his face.
If you have any information about this incident, you are asked to contact the Portage County Sheriff’s Office at 330-296-5100.
