Multiple departments responded to a tanker spill in Ravenna that closed Route 5 at Route 59.
The semi rollover crash happened around 6 a.m. Sunday on State Route 5 at State Route 59, where the semi was traveling westbound when it overturned.
The Ravenna Post of the Highway Patrol says that the driver was taken to Robinson Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
At the time of the accident, the tanker was carrying approximately 7,800 gallons of "off road diesel fuel". The fuel is leaking from the tanker into a nearby stream which is being contained by the Ravenna Township fire department. It is unknown exactly how much of the fuel has leaked from the tanker.
Along with highway patrol and the fire department, The Portage County Emergency Management Agency, Portage County Homeland Security, Portage County Sheriff's Department, and the Ohio Department of Transportation are all on scene.
ODOT reported at 2:50 p.m. that both directions of Rt. 5 at Rt. 59 was back open.
