SHALERSVILLE, Ohio - Disruptive students at the Cooperative Learning Program school (CLP) in Shalersville Township prompted officials there to call the Portage County Sheriff's Office for help.
When deputies arrived to the school for students with emotional needs, they found a female student who had cut herself multiple times.
As deputies began questioning another female student who said she knew where the knife was, that student pulled out a folding knife.
She was ordered by Deputy Matt Skilton to drop the knife, but refused to listen. Police then pepper-sprayed her at which time she threw the knife at the deputy, missing him.
Deputies got the student under control and said she will be charged with assault on deputies, possibly others. She will also undergo a psychological evaluation.
The female with knife wounds was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
