CHARLESTON TWP., Ohio - A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 5 in Portage County early Friday morning.
Ohio State Highway Patrol said it is investigating the crash that occurred at 12:53 a.m. They said Patricia Cobb, 49, of Warren, Ohio was driving a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette eastbound when she was struck by a 2011 Kenworth tractor trailer going westbound driven by Corey Mullins, age 35, of Glade Spring, Virginia.
Mullin’s trailer crossed the center line, striking Cobb’s car and then traveled off the south side of the roadway, striking numerous trees before coming to a final rest on its side.
Mullin was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries by the Portage County Coroner’s Office.
Cobb was transported to Robinson Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The road is currently closed around the crash area and the estimated time of reopening is unknown. Drivers are advised to use an alternate route.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
