NELSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Portage County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a suspect after an 87-year-old woman was injured during a home invasion.
On Tuesday, a man knocked Dorothy Bailey to the floor while forcing his way into her house in Nelson Township. He took money from her purse then fled. Bailey is recovering from a broken hip at an area hospital.
Deputies tracked down a person of interest, 29-year-old David A. Warner, who lives on the same Nelson Township road as the victim. Warner was taken into custody on Thursday, without incident.
The sheriff’s office said Warner was charged with one count of aggravated robbery and is being held at the Portage County Jail without bond. His arraignment is set for Friday afternoon at the Ravenna Courthouse.
Neighbors of Bailey said she wouldn’t hurt a fly and spends most of her time at her church.
