KENT, Ohio - The man accused of stealing cars around Kent was found sleeping in one of the stolen vehicles, police say.
The Kent Police Department had been investigating a string of car thefts and linked 18-year-old Robert Myers of Kent to the incidents. Two cars were recovered in Kent and another was found in New Castle, Pa.
Kent police said Myers was sleeping in a stolen car on Sunday in a parking lot on Morris Road.
Myers was charged with three counts of receiving stolen property and one counts of tampering with evidence. Thomas Morrin, 18, of Kent was charged with receiving stolen property in connection with the case.
On Friday, a car was taken from Depeyster Street, but later found on North Mantua. Kent police said 18-year-old Devin Reynolds was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle. Police did not say if this incident was related to the other stolen cars.
In a third incident, Kent police arrested 20-year-old Shawn Greene of Akron after a car was broken into and set on fire on South Lincoln Street on Monday morning.
