RAVENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A former corrections officer at the Portage County Jail was arrested after she was charged with assaulting an inmate.
Sheriff David Doak said Connie Sutton of Akron was indicted June 21 on one count of felonious assault. She turned herself in at the jail Tuesday.
The alleged incident happened between Sutton and a female inmate, 23-year-old Holly Anderson of Ravenna Township.
Doak said as a result of the assault, Anderson had to be taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries.
Sutton’s bond was set at $50,000 and she was ordered to have no contact with any of the inmates at the jail or any witnesses in the case.
Doak said Sutton’s employment was terminated as a result of an investigation.
