KENT, Ohio - Firefighters from around the area set fire inside the Allerton Apartments on the campus of Kent State University Thursday. It was a training exercise.
The Allerton Apartments are scheduled to be torn down in the near future.
"It's vitally important that we get an opportunity to get into an apartment type atmosphere," said Lt. David Moore of the Kent Fire Department. "Because you have multiple families, the life hazard is much greater because you have a large amount of people in a small confined area within the apartments."
Moore said as the apartments are prepared to be torn down over the next several weeks, they will continue training in the apartment complex.
