BRIMFIELD, Ohio - A fight that began on a Kent party bus ended with several people hurt and shots fired in Brimfield. Police Chief David Oliver posted details (and his thoughts) about the "large fight with broken jaws, guns and cussing" to his department's Facebook page.
"Of course, when we arrived on scene, no one could give us a description of the shooter(s) and everyone ran away," the chief said, who then went on to explain the danger of being drunk and having a weapon.
"Drunk stupid people, in case you missed science classes, let me take you back to school for a minute," the chief began. "Bullets don't magically disappear when fired into the air. It has something to do with gravity. When you fire a gun, the bullet always lands somewhere. Next time it could land in a person and you will land in prison and be the soul mate of someone who has been lifting weights for the last 20 years."
Oliver is becoming known for his humor and honesty when detailing what's happening in his community. People from as far away as England and Germany are reading his Facebook posts. The department's page has more than 3,100 hits and growing.
The chief also advised "drunk, stupid people" not stay in Brimfield's hotels. "We do not want you here. You can bet the next 'unsanctioned' events held near campus will result in my assigning officers to hotels to arrest you. Chief."
The car pictured was one damaged during the melee at the hotel.
"I may hold the vehicle until someone tells us who was doing the shooting (Sunday) night. Don't get me wrong, I love guns....I hate when criminals have them. Chief."
