BRIMFIELD, Ohio - A Brimfield man has been charged with raping his 11-year-old step-daughter.

On Tuesday morning, detectives said the family came to the Brimfield Police Department to explain what happened. That's when officers arrested Eric Hicks and charged him two counts of rape and gross sexual imposition.

"Our thoughts and prayers to the victim and family," said Brimfield Police Chief David Oliver on the department's Facebook page.

Police said in an interview with them Hicks admitted to molesting the girl multiple times earlier this year.

Hicks is behind bars in the Portage County Jail. A court date for him is not yet known.
