RAVENNA, Ohio - An Akron man is dead following a two-car collision in Ravenna Friday morning.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a semi tractor-trailer traveling northbound on State Route 43, north of Randolph Road in Portage County, struck a car pulling out from a driveway around 6:56 a.m. Friday. The semi then went off the left side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.
The Portage County coroner pronounced the driver of the car, 86-year-old Edward P. Shuber, of Akron, dead at the scene. The Suffield Township Fire Department and EMS extracted Shuber from the car and transported him to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.
The semi driver is identified as Allan R. Yoder, 41, of Uniontown. He did not require medical treatment.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The Ravenna Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
