KENT, Ohio - Two men were arrested Tuesday by Portage County Drug Task force officials and have been charged with illegal cultivation of marijuana in the vicinity of a juvenile.
Shawn Mitchell and Michael Genovese, both of Kent, were arrested when members of the Portage County Drug Task Force executed a court-ordered search warrant. The investigation followed a complaint from a neighbor concerned about the well-being of a 10-year-old child living with the two men, according to Sheriff David Doak.
After searching the house, agents found 80 marijuana plants in the basement worth around $80,000, along with drug paraphernalia used to grow the plants including fans, humidifiers, filters, lights, and power supplies.
Task force agents will seek additional charges once the case is reviewed by the Portage County Prosecutor's Office.
