ROOTSTOWN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash from Saturday night that killed a Kent man.
The crash between a motorcycle and truck occurred on Tallmadge Road west of Marks Avenue in Rootstown Township Saturday at 8:50 p.m., according to OSHP.
Kory Lafferty, 26, of Kent, was driving the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at Akron City Hospital Wednesday as result of injuries from the crash.
The driver of the truck, 67-year-old Joseph Gadd, of Rootstown, was not injured.
A preliminary investigation concluded that Lafferty was going eastbound on Tallmadge Road and Gadd westbound, when Gadd made a left turn out of a residential driveway and was struck on the right side by Lafferty.
Lafferty, who was not wearing a helmet, was then ejected from his motorcycle.
The crash remains under investigation.
This is Portage County's eighth traffic death in 2012 and third involving a motorcycle.
