SHALERSVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A Portage County woman died 12 days after she was involved in a one-car crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said 76-year-old Joan Buchert of Mantua was driving south on State Route 44 near Webb Road in Shalersville Township on Feb. 28, when she drove off the right side of the road and struck a mailbox, a ditch and then a tree.
Buchert was taken to Robinson Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Akron City Hospital.
She died Tuesday as a result of her injuries, the patrol said.
Troopers said Buchert was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and her airbag had deployed.
The OSHP is still investigating the crash.
This is the third fatality of 2013 in Portage County.
