WADSWORTH, Ohio - A Wadsworth man has died after leading police on a short high speed chase and crashing his motorcycle.
Just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, a Wadsworth police officer saw two motorcycles speeding on High Street.
The officer pulled out behind the drivers. They slowed down and pulled into a parking lot.
The officer then tried to pull over one of the drivers because his motorcycle did not have a license plate, but the driver would not stop.
The two motorcycles split up and the officer continued to follow the one without a license plate.
The driver, identified by police as Janko Sudicki, 23, of Wadsworth, struck a Wadsworth Police cruiser as he left the parking lot.
He then fled north on High Street. Sudicki lost control of his motorcycle and crashed near the intersection of High Street and Reimer Road. Sudicki was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Norton police officer saw the second motorcycle driver a short time later. He was arrested after a short foot pursuit.
"This was a tragedy that did not need to happen and my condolences go out to the Sudicki family,” said Wadsworth Police Chief Randall Reinke.
