LITCHFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - One man was seriously injured during a two-car crash in Litchfield Township Monday night.
Lawrence Brandel, 69, of Wadsworth, ran a stop sign at the intersection of state Route 83 and Smith Road, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. His pick-up truck was hit by another truck, driven by 49-year-old John Laplante, of Grafton.
Brandel’s truck went off the side of the road and hit a utility police, troopers said. He was taken to Lodi Hospital, and then transported by medical helicopter to Akron City Hospital with serious injuries.
Laplante was treated and released. The patrol said he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Troopers said drugs or alcohol are not factors in the crash.
