BRUNSWICK, Ohio - Some local children are thankful Wednesday morning because of the generous donations from another high school.
Tuesday night, the Brunswick Blue Devils took on the Elyria Pioneers at Brunswick High School.
It was charity night and all the coaches and some fans wore shirts to support the Plumlee family.
Diane Plumlee, the mother of three children, died tragically back in October. She was killed by a pickup truck just moments after putting two of her children on a school bus.
At the time, Diane was also dealing with the death of her husband E. Gustavo Plumlee. He died unexpectedly two months earlier of a heart attack.
So that left her two daughters, Ana and Antonia, and son, Carl, without their mother and father.
Brunswick Blue Devils fans packed the arena last night to show support for the family. But they weren’t the only ones who knew about the fundraiser.
On the other side, students at Elyria High School had also got wind of the situation. They pitched in and were able to raise more than $1200 for the family.
In the end, the Blue Devils were able to prevail in the basketball game by a score of 49 to 42. But it was a victory for both schools. They showed the true meaning of sportsmanship and were able to help a family in need.
