MONTVILLE TWP., Ohio - A police pursuit led to a serious injury crash on Route 18 in Medina County Thursday morning.
Troopers at the scene said the incident began with a traffic stop in which the driver of a car initially stopped for officers before taking off.
They said the car proceeded to lead Montville police on a chase that lasted about a mile, running a red light before colliding with a Montville Township Service Department pickup truck and then wrapping around a pole.
The car was mangled as a result of the crash. Two victims were involved, one per vehicle, and at least one of the victims has been flown to the hospital.
Officers said they do not know at this time why the driver fled.
Route 18 at Windfall Road in Medina County has reopened after the crash.
