BRUNSWICK, Ohio - A 30-hour standoff off at a home on Jefferson Street in Brunswick has ended.

Brunswick Police and SWAT members had been on the scene since early afternoon on Friday.

Brunswick police said it started Friday when they received a phone call from a man who stated that his 39 year-old brother was going to a home, located at 1528 Jefferson, to assault his ex-girlfriend.

Police responded to the home and set up a perimeter after finding the front door damaged and barricaded. Officers said they heard a man and woman inside arguing.

The Chief of Police said the male suspect told them he was not coming out and he was armed.

Residents in neighboring houses had been evacuated, dispatch said.

Brunswick Police say that the 39-year-old male died in the home from gunshot wounds. A female in the home was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for her injuries.

Police are not revealing the identities of the two people involved until relatives are notified.

BCI is on scene investigating.
