MEDINA, Ohio - A Medina man was arrested on Wednesday after being indicted on child pornography-related charges.
Richard J. Miezin, 47, distributed files of minors engaged in sexually conduct between April 2012 and February 2011, said Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio. He was also charged with knowingly making false statements to the FBI.
The case was investigated by the Medina County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI Crimes Against Children Task Force.
“As the power and popularity of the Internet continues to expand, the number of child pornography and sexual exploitation cases opened will likely continue to grow, as will the resources needed to address this crime problem,” the U.S. Attorney’s office said in a statement on Wednesday. “The task forces located throughout the northern district of Ohio, composed of federal, state, and local law enforcement, are a key tool in this effort.”
