LODI, Ohio - A small child was found wandering in Lodi while the boy’s grandfather was drunk and passed out at home, police said.

A woman spotted the child walking down the sidewalk near Prospect and Wooster streets on Friday and called police. Residents in the area helped officers figure out the boy’s address.

Lodi police said the child’s mother left her son with her father while she was a work. The grandfather, 52-year-old Michael Whisman, was intoxicated and asleep at the house as the boy left through the back door, police said.

Whisman was arrested from child endangering and taken to the Medina County Jail.
