BRUNSWICK, Ohio - Students from Memorial Elementary School in Brunswick held their third annual Math Amusement Club Garage Sale Friday night.

Third, fourth and fifth grade club members set up their treasures to sell, add up the purchased items and provide the customers with the correct change. Meals were available for only $1.50. Having the students handle the money helps them to learn valuable math skills.

More than 300 people came out to support the students' efforts to raise money for their upcoming school trips to Mohican and Washington, DC.

"They’re learning all about money, they're learning geometry algebra everything math oriented to get them ready for the OAA and making change at a garage sale is one of the things that they were really practicing and learning to do well with," said math club advisor Kelly Roberts.

Whatever is left will be donated to Medina Community Services to help Medina County families in need.
