BRUNSWICK, Oh - A special delivery landed two Brunswick residents behind bars. According to the Medina County Drug Task force, the two people were charged with marijuana possession after receiving a package containing pot at their Bennington Boulevard apartment.

20-year-old Azya Burden and 31-year-old Gerald 'Vegas' Bowerman are each charged with one count of possession of marijuana, a 3rd degree felony.

Agents from the Medina County Drug Task Force worked with U.S. Postal Inspectors on a joint investigation.  According to a news release from the Medina County Drug Task Force, Postal Inspectors and Brunswick police officers conducted surveillance on the residence.

Once Burden received the package, officers attempted to take her and Bowerman into custody.  Both ran off  but were arrested after a short foot pursuit.  Two additional people in the apartment also fled on foot.  They were not immediately caught, however their identities are known and criminal charges are likely against each of them.

A subsequent search of the apartment uncovered additional evidence against those involved.

According to investigators, Gerald Bowerman has an extensive criminal record, primarily involving drugs.  He is currently on parole after serving 8 years in prison as a result of being caught in Stark County, Ohio with more than 400 pounds of marijuana.  Azya Burden has no criminal record.

Both are in the Medina County Jail pending arraignment in the Medina Municipal Court.
