AMHERST, Ohio - The woman police say told a gas station clerk that she was an Amherst police officer has been arrested.

Amherst police said a woman tried to exchange a pack of cigarettes at the Sunoco station on Leavitt Road, flashed a badge and told the clerk she would be arrested if she didn’t comply.

On Wednesday, a man called police, saying his family noticed his girlfriend’s picture in the newspapers. Minutes later, 38-year-old Jaritza Diaz Rodriguez agreed to come into the police station.

Rodriguez, of Lakewood, said she worked for a private security company and the badge she had is actually her concealed carry permit. She was changed with impersonating a police office, which is a fourth-degree misdemeanor, and released on bond.

She is scheduled to appear in Oberlin Municipal Court on Nov. 9.
