LORAIN, Ohio - Police arrested a suspect Wednesday afternoon after the fatal shooting at a Lorain gas station.
Officers were called to the Liberty Gas Station on Broadway Avenue at about 3:42 a.m. on New Year’s Day for a shooting.
Herman Seagers, 33, was shot and taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Damien Bell, 25; Alan Tate; 34 and Tallis Moore, 33, were also shot and taken to Mercy Regional Hospital in Lorain with non-life threatening injuries.
Lorain police said a fight at the Cotton Club on East 28th Street happened just before the shooting and that’s how officers identified 31-year-old Desmen Deupree Noble. The Lorain Municipal Court issued a murder warrant and he was arrested in Elyria after a 24-hour manhunt.
“I am extremely proud of the dedication and teamwork displayed by my officers. On the first day, there was very little information provided and through their tenacity they were able to piece together what took place and began to build a case. As a result, a very dangerous individual was removed from the streets of Lorain,” Lorain Police Chief Cel Rivera said.
Noble was taken to the Lorain City Jail and will be arraigned on Thursday.
Lorain police said someone also fired at least one high-powered round into Noble’s house on West 22nd Street. No one was home or injured and police said they believe it was in retaliation.
Anyone with information should call the Lorain Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 440-204-2105.
