NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio - A single-car crash on U.S. 20 and Lear Nagle Road leaves a North Ridgeville man dead.
It started around 3:30 a.m. when someone called the North Ridgeville Police Department to report a man passed out in his car at the McDonald's drive-thru on Lorain Road.
Just as officers arrived to the scene, the man was awakened by a resident and tried to drive off. Officers tried stopping him in the drive-thru lane, but the man kept going, leading police on a brief 1.1 mile high-speed chase northbound on Lear Nagle Road.
Authorities said 32-year-old Jeremy Casey then ran off the road near the U.S. Rt. 20 intersection and into the Walgreens. Casey was ejected and died at the scene.
The department said the incident remains under investigation.
