Police: LCCC student Shaquille Brown says he wanted to leave English class to go shoot Mitt Romney

ELYRIA, Ohio - An Elyria man has been arrested after police said he allegedly made a threat during English class that he was going to shoot Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

Shaquille Brown, 19, was taken into custody Monday morning at Lorain County Community College in Elyria.

According to the professor's account in the police report, Brown blurted out while working in a group, "can we leave, because Romney is in town and I want to go shoot him."

The professor then said she told Brown she was stunned by the comment and that she had to report him to campus security.

Officers responded to the classroom and took him away. The report said Brown told the officer, "I didn't even have a gun to do it," as they were walking to the campus security office.

Brown was then arrested and taken to the Elyria Police Department for processing. Elyria police contacted the U.S. Secret Service field office in Cleveland, which sent an agent to interview Brown.

Brown was charged with inducing panic, a felony, and taken to the Lorain County Jail. He made an initial court appearance Wednesday morning.
