Pedestrian struck and killed in Amherst

AMHERST, Ohio - Amherst police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred Wednesday evening.

According to police, a pedestrian was fatally struck at Cooper Foster Park Road near Oberlin Avenue around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers arrived at the scene and located Nicola Wade, 38, of Lorain. She was transported to Mercy Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The Lorain County Medical Examiner reports that Wade suffered blunt force trauma to the head, chest and torso.

The 22-year-old driver of the vehicle stopped after the crash and is cooperating with authorities, police said.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The crash remains under investigation.
