Elyria, Ohio - The third annual James Kerstetter 5k run and 1 mile walk took place in Elyria Saturday morning.
The race is dedicated to the Elyria police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 2010.
Fellow officers created the race three years ago to keep Kerstetter’s memory alive, saying he was a strong advocate of family, health and community.
All proceeds from the race go to the Kerstetter Fraternal Order of Police Scholarship Fund.
Last year, the race raised $13,000.
